Special Abilities

  • Unique
  • Order 66
  • Republic Commando (Counts as a character named Republic Commando)
  • Avoid Defeat (Whenever this character would be defeated, make 2 saves, each needing 11; if both succeed, this character has 10 Hit Points instead of being defeated)
  • Delta Maneuver (When this character activates, it gains one of the following abilities of your choice until the start of the next round: Accurate Shot, Advantageous Cover, Greater Mobile Attack, Grenades 40, Heal 20, Override, Quadruple Attack.)
  • Door Breach (Replaces turn: Designate 1 adjacent door as open, then attack each legal target once; the door remains open for the rest of the skirmish and cannot be closed)
  • Double Attack (On his turn, this character can make 1 extra attack instead of moving)
  • Shields 2 (When this character takes damage, make 2 saves, each needing 11; each success reduces the damage dealt by 10)
  • Squad Action (Can use 2 abilities that replace attacks instead of 1 on its turn)
  • Squad Movement (Can squeeze through 1-square openings and past enemy characters)
  • Stealth (If this character has cover, he does not count as the nearest enemy for an attacker farther than 6 squares when choosing targets)
  • Twin Attack (Whenever this character attacks, he makes 1 extra attack against the same target)

Interesting piece. SA is cool. Should include some sort of "counts as" ability in case any unique individual personas are created.

Hm. It ate my comment. Anyways: Thanks for the comments! I avoided a "counts as" along those lines, just because it felt messy to me. I'm worried about it being too cheap for what you get - probably will adjust it with some playtesting.

None of the original Republic Commandos are Unique, because they're all clones anyways, so I don't think a "counts as" is needed. Plus some squads would rotate new members in after others died.

Excellent point on the rotating members. I like that. I think I'll use that justification in the future. ;-)

This with Capt. Rex, The Dark Woman and Qui-Gon Trainer = +14 Attack, GMA and 8 attacks. With Avoid Defeat, Shields 2 and access to super stealth, that is a lot of damage potential and longevity. That's not taking any other O66 synergy into account. It's a rather deadly piece. The saving grace may prove to be it's inability to acces swap or tow.

God, it's way too easy to forget the massive number of good CEs Republic has. Now, Qui-Gon+TDW is 45; Rex is 33. All of those, with this, would cost you 154. GMA is really the "big" concern, to be fair - Rex can give it for 33; BSVigos can give it for 38. Honestly, a cost adjustment is probably in order - maybe something closer to GMLS, so that any "abusive" squad using Delta (outside of Epic) really just boils down to Delta+Things-that-make-Delta-Better.

117 points would bar them from 100, and limit the "abusive" build to Delta + Rex @150. In 200 or Epic, it might actually have enough space to shine, even at such an insanely high point value. Thoughts? EDIT: Hm. I think it might deserve a little bit of playtesting - I'm curious how the Huge base actually limits GMA's effectiveness, y'know?

I agree that play testing is needed. This may prove to be a spectacularly well constructed piece or borderline broken. Time will tell.
