The squad ratings issue is on the back burner for me now. That's why I un-stickied this thread, and stopped reading it every day (sorry Kenred). People have lots of good ideas, but I'm working on some major infrastructure changes to the site first (behind the scenes stuff), then I'll come back to this. Has it gotten to the point that you need some moderators?

Yeah, that is definately a very likely possibility. Good to see you are concentrating on more important things.

Personally speaking I only use the ratings to find squads I can steal ideas from If people are complaining about the ratings they get then it is, in my opinion, glory seeking. I actually do not even look at the creator when seeking out these squads so the fame is lost on me. Now that I have found high/low ratings do not mean much to how the squad will perform, I just look at them all. It would be nice if there was a fair system on judging the squads or figures for that matter but I can live without one. It just means more research time.

Understandable.. thanx for the heads up.. when you're able to complete that infrastructure of this site... please let me know what you think of my idea, and if you think it's a good idea to experiment it.

I have two suggestions:
1. Take away the anonymity of the rating - if you're going to rate a squad a '1' then own it.
2. Dispense with the 1 - 10 system. On the CBC news site users can leave comments on each story. Those comments can be recommended by other users. Each recommendation adds 1 to count and each user can only recommend a comment once. In that way, very popular comments get very high ratings while less popular comments simply remain low. There is no way to (actively) negatively impact the rating of a comment.
