Ok, since I played, I need to vote .... Ughh!!

My problem once I sat down to think about this and how/who to vote for, is the whole thing smells like we're veering into RPG territory and away from SWM. No offense to anyone and entirely an opinion from an old player.

Personnel Mine - Kamikaze. A simple blocking devive; a cheap diplomat, but a mine should do Damage!

Lightsaber - spryguy1981. Valid idea, disagree about argument because non-Force users have used them. It's too much like one of those RPG things where you "Pick up the object," IMHO.

TX-130 Saber-class fighter tank - blemelisk. Hard to cost because you have some funky "station" ideas that do a Lot. Somewhere between 45 and 50; I'd say 47. Still and all, its a Tank; nothing interesting about it .... no offense.

Weapons Locker - saber1. A relativly immobile trader; feels like another RPG bit. Sorry, but actually a great idea as such for an RPG game.

Door Control Panel - Flying Arrow. I feel like its a valid idea, yet it gives manual override to anybody. Can anybody here hotwire a car? The same number should be able to manually override door controls. Its a specialist ability that shouldn't be given to anybody. Maybe someone who already has something like door gimmick or named specialist.

Security Turret - >Jase<. It's a turret, nothing interesting here to me, again, no offense.

Telos Holocron - Sithbot. Can't be defeated??? Seriously? Somehow, I can't buy that. The holocron is obviously doable, but I can't get past that " can't be defeated" when voting.

3rd Place Obi-Wan Kenobi, Hologram - Alex. Three Hologram pieces, but only 1 actually has the ability (Veers.) Still, a useful idea and Republic too.

2nd Place Central Control Computer - GG. Interesting idea and I can easily see how the Seps would have something like this.

1st Place Shield Generator - donnyrides. Not an RPG piece (I can't see anybody "picking this up." Interestingly enough, I did a Faamba but never "Just" a Shield generator. Nice!

Peace,

surf

I think I will nickname you ^^^^ Strafe

Considering you just went strafe mode on all designs.

I will post mine later but wanted to throw in support to functions that make things less board game and more "3D" or "RPG" ish. The whole game is designed to be a RPG on the board. that is why there are walls and weapons and skirmishes and rounds and modifiers and abilities and skills and everything else that is in an RPG.

If your design can easily fit into the demands of the game than I say go for it. For instance, guns that lose attack rating when they are far far away, that is a game mechanic that should exist. In most RPG's you cannot target people a certain distance away without a scope.

However, seeing a vehicle and being able to get on it and have a new set of abilities is easy to do and fun. Or a lightsaber, finding a lightsaber is something we have actually seen in a movie, it fits well and fits the game mechanics.

Designing should not be limited to keeping the same old mechanics. When they put out the Bacta Tank I remember people saying it was hard to imagine in the game....

I think these little things bring fun to the game moreso than anything else. Unique and flavor and a way to boost characters, just like in the movies. Han gaining a bowcaster.... we saw that!! awesome
or weapons locker, you get a better weapon or weapon upgrade? I have read about that. etc etc.

1st Spry
2nd Surf
3rd GG

This is a fun week. I like the idea of simple character enhancements for points. It's kind of Warhammer-ish but I would love to spend X points to give a lightsaber user a static attack bonus called "Crystal Enhancement". Or maybe something along the same lines for blasters like "blaster scope". Imagine all the configurations there could be with these sort of single use, single character enhancements. You could make really crappy pieces good again. Imagine giving Djas Puhr a blaster upgrade of +4 for the skirmish making him +10 attack. I would be able to blow the dust off of him and use him for once.

Anyway, great job this week everyone and welcome back Surf.

I really like this weeks theme. I really liked a lot of the customs, but had to narrow it down to 3. I could have sworn (simple crate) was one I saw, but didnt see it in the list of submissions.

1st Alex, fantastic and simple thematic piece straight out of the clone wars
2nd Surf, excellent simple thematic boost to force users, I may have worded affinity differently to same as the Antarians but solid entry.
3rd Saber1, a lot going on but interesting concept and cool to see an weapons/ammo cache.

Really awesome week all around and great to see the return of Surf (hoping it's permanent! Come on brother!) who has made a sea of legendary customs for years and the continued effort and fresh ideas of new contributors. Great stuff everyone!
