I have been considering something like this. I think it is needed. My solution was to bring a new Special Ability into the game, Like so:

Uncivilized: On its turn, this Character may target and attack enemy characters with the Diplomat Special Ability.

That was my idea. Perhaps granting this SA to all Savage characters could work with your idea.

I hope to see something like this on the new Cad Bane coming out in GaW.

Sounds good to me!! Would be awesome to use some Rakghouls to wipe out your opponent's Diplomats. :P

Oooohhh, that would be cool, and kinda bad too. I can see it now - one guy has Lobot, the other guy fields a Diplomat or three. Lobot guy brings in a Rak. Even Leia Senator would be lucky to survive an Ambush attack. Suddenly, Raks are everywhere. Run for your life!

I voted yes, oops LOL Ah well, at least we'd see more Savage characters in play BigGrin

Rakghouls have only been successful for me ONCE. Maybe I'm playing them wrong. :(

Oh you are right - they are fragile. But a Camasi or Dignitary would be an easy kill for them. If there were Uggies or Grans in the vicinity... swarm time! Looks good on paper anyway Razz

Maybe it is just me but how often do simple rule modifications like this earn such overwhelming support?

Just like the Diplomat currently makes Savage hard to play, the rules change would make Diplomats hard to play.

It gives them a limitation, but shouldn't make them hard to play. ThumpUp

It wouldn't make Diplomats any harder to play it would just give the a natural counter. The question may be how often do you see Diplomats played now and how often do you see really Savage creatures (you know, the ones without a controller) played.

Just curious, why people DON'T play Savage creatures as often... I really don't see them as a disadvantage, though I am likely missing something ;)

Without Exar, Savage characters are a liability for their cost. (low def, low att, hardly any survivability) If you run (pre-Exile) an Empathy character with them (usually the Fringe Wrangler as the Witches are Imperial), they, the Empathy characters, become the liability. As soon as they are gone, you lose any of the CEs that the Savage characters gained from the commanders...making them, once again, the liability.

Diplomat characters can directly nerf any Savage character and as long as the Diplomat player keeps every one of his other characters outside of the Savage's movement but still in LOS of the Savage, then the Savage characters can do nothing. This errata would eliminate that loophole.

Makes sense to me.

Savage characters are supposed to run up to an enemy and attack, not say "oops, sorry, I didn't realize you had diplomatic immunity; let me just stand here."

I can imagine the abuse with Kun now. Savage little ewoks all over the board sacrificing themselves so Kun can get his triple attack. That is pretty sick. I like it.

Next level? As in making an official request for the change, or you have some other ideas as well?

Either way, I say go for it Laugh
