I finally decided to buy the starter. I got it for my son for Christmas. I was wondering if anyone here plays it or has played it that has some comments about it. The figs look cool, but I had heard the rules for it were not so great.

I have the starter set and 2 maybe 3 booster's we haven't played it yet but something my friend noticed is the Tie fighters were rare,(if I remember right) so you may not get many of them which is a little lame considering how many the Empire had. I read the rules and they sounded cool to me but again I haven't played it yet, so I would also be interested in hearing about how it is when played too.

TIES were not rare. I think the Rogue Squadron X-wing was the only generic R.

The only weird rare I can think of is the ARC-170 fighter. And it did seem a little strange getting some of the small personal ships like Luke's X-wing and Kenobi's Jedi Starfighter as Rs and Star Destroyers for UCs.

I enjoyed it, even if it is a bit simplistic.

Cool, thanks for the link. I'm going to have to read up on it. Jim hinted to maybe running some in the future so I thought I might as well get some figs. I saw a case of miniaturemarket.com for a decent price. I will try out the starter and see what my boy thinks of it.

The game is just horrid. I've worked on a new ruleset based on War at Sea. There are just not enough figures to make this a good game to play.
It's both a waste of money and space. Sorry for your loss.

I loved it TIE fighters were common figures but ridiculously hard to get but great little pieces as you could recycle them and for a dark side fleet a Intedictor is a must have

The game was not "good" from a compedative stand point for most of us vets of SWM it was a MAJOR let down-
for about the first month or so the game was cool, AND it was fun to play mostly because that's how long it took us all to get all the pieces and play out the possible stategem
however the flaws began to show through wickedly
no expansion(MAJOR Let down) Damaged is assessed AFTER BOTH teams shoot(you will find you play to a draw WAY too Often) No Era Play- you need Obi wan AND Luke to make your starfighters work well a Full complement of ships is required for BOTH sides or SERIOUS imballances occur
In my assesment if you are looking for a Quick and fun game; What I often refer to as a "Beer & Pretzles" game- then you will enjoy this DO NOT expect to get into deep complicated battles lasting Hours
the figs are made well and the rules do stand well alone; but as mentioned games will often end in a "tie"
