imyurhukaberry, you should have done some more hunting around before you got too frustrated with trying to set that thing up. I believe NickName has had a link in his Signature on the WOTC boards for as long as I can remember on how to get Vassal set up. And there's also a great tutorial over on the swmgamers.com site on the main page. Fool wrote that one.

What you put together here is a really great, quick tutorial though, so nice job! Vassal really is an awesome program, and NickName is actually the one who keeps all the files up to date. He's usually pretty good about getting the new pieces uploaded within a few days of new sets coming out. Maps are tougher because you have to get really good, high quality scans for those. But everything is up to date now, including the newest maps I believe!

Maybe see some you around on there!

Well...call me a dunce, but I just couldn't figure it out. Perhaps I didn't try hard enough or didn't look in all the right spots. I guess that's why I put this post together, just to walk someone thru all the steps in very simple terms and ways. Heck, if I needed it, then I figured someone else needed it too. :)

I've played a couple games on VASSAL so far. Joruus walked me thru a LOT and gave me a good beating a couple times. I also got a chance to play Billiv and after a TOUGH match barely pulled out the win. I haven't had much time to get online tho, so perhaps someday I'll get a chance to jump on it again.

Oh, don't beat yourself up. Vassal certainly isn't an easy program to figure out. I was just saying that there are a myriad of references available to help guide people through the process of setting it up.

So, if you look at imyurhukaberry's tutorial here, and it doesn't help you, then try looking at NickName's or the one on swmgamers.com and see if one of those answers your question.

Plus, you can always send a PM to somebody who you know is able to use Vassal and ask them questions directly about it. Usually any problems someone is having is pretty minor and easy to solve.

Were you able to open the link referring to the connecting part? You can't just click on it, as I don't know how to correct the link, but you can copy/paste it and it works that way.

Let me know if the instructions in the link aren't helping. There might be another link I can send you that will help.
