Special Abilities

  • Unique
  • Double Attack (On his turn, this character can make 1 extra attack instead of moving)
  • Greater Mobile Attack (Can move both before and after attacking. This character can make extra attacks even if he moves this turn, but he must make them all before resuming movement.)
  • Accurate Shot (Can attack an enemy with cover even if it's not the nearest enemy)
  • Sniper (Other characters do not provide cover against this character's attack)
  • Merciless 20 (+20 Damage against enemies at half Hit Points or less)
  • Intimidation (Living non-Unique enemies within 6 squares get -2 Attack and -2 Defense. Living allies within 6 squares get +2 Attack and +2 Defense.)
  • Pathfinder (Allies are not slowed by difficult terrain within 6 squares of this character)
  • Versatility (At the start of the skirmish, after set-up, you may replace this character with another character of an equal or lesser cost who counts as Grievous. The chosen replacement gains one of this character's other special abilities. If the replacement's cost is at least 5 less than this character's cost, he also gains this character's commander effect.)

Commander Effect

You decide who goes first each round regardless of initiative check, unless you roll a 4 or less

"And judging from the cloak we found, you are a Kaleesh General, are you not?" ―San Hill, to Grievous

This is him before he becomes a cyborg and is a work in progress. The cost stays at 57 so he can use Versatility with GGDAC. GMA, Merciless 20 and Intimidation are the main choices for Versatility. Accurate Shot, Sniper and Deadeye since he was a sniper. Pathfinder sounded like it should fit... Rapport to make his high cost easier to swallow... CE to represents his tactics which have been underrated on all previous versions plus Versatility makes it so he can give it to a lesser version, plus a SA.

(part 2) Basically a weaker version of Master Tactician for all Factions that haven't had access to it yet (CIS, Rebels, Republic, New Republic, and Mandos) his high cost should dissuade overuse. Please offer suggestions, I need help reconciling his cost without overloading on the SA's.

Ok, he definitely has too many abilities (though they all fit the character). Certainly drop the Rapport; MORE 2 point swarm options would be BAD. Outside of that, I can't really see anything that belongs any less than the next ability; at this point, he needs at least 1-3 less abilities, but it's up to you which ones to drop, based on what part of his life you are trying to represent...

...This one says 'Brilliant Tactician'... Maybe more HP, Damage and such, but less combat-based abilities? More Damage could also allow you to drop things like Deadeye (Accurate/Sniper are enough to represent sharpshooting I think) or (if you wanted to) Cunning

Dropped Deadeye, Rapport and Cunning Attack. (though I may bring it back) Not sure if I want the other versions of Grievous to gain Cunning. (input?) Upped his damage to 20 and HP to 110. I'm thinking of switching Sniper and Accurate Shot for my Expert Sniper SA (On this character's turn, if he doesn't move, then he can attack an enemy with cover even if it's not the nearest enemy and ignores enemy abilities and commander effects that prevent targeting and attacking.)

What do you think about Advantageous Cover so he will last longer? (fits a Sniper) How is the cost looking? Should I not worry about giving GGDAC any love?

With this many problems, it may normally be a problem with Versatility, but with a lot of them being shooter-based abilities, I don't think it is. I would cost him lower than DAC, because then it gives you MUCH more flexibility cost-wise (next lowest grievous is 42), so it's less of a juggling game. And as far as the versatility for those pieces, the ONLY one I see being a potential issue is Merciless +20 (could be MEAN damage output). But then, as I've been over before, Merciless only helps AFTER you've put the hurt on someone. GMA is no problem; the only GG's it helps could USE the help.

Anyway, I like it a lot now, and I think with a cost adjustment as stated above, it has even more potential, because you have wider options. I do worry a bit that the CE coupled with things in factions that don't have MT yet (like Seps/NR/Rebels with San Hill/Dodonna) might be a bit much control. Could be perfectly fine though; something playtesting could help with. Not a major issue I think.

Just remember [camaraderie] doesn't cross Faction lines. If he's Fringe, he can only affect the other Fringe Grievous. The Sep versions are unaffected. The CE can be simplified as "...on a roll of 4 or less."

I'm guessing you mean Versatility, which is only required to follow squad building rules, so in a Sep Squad it works.

@Markedman I thought the same thing an was going to make an SA so he counts as CIS for that reason, then I realized what Lord_ball pointed out. Changed the wording on the CE, lowered the cost to 49. Thanks for all the feedback!

^Correct. In a Sep squad, all Grevi (pl) would be open. Other factions, the get only two choices. That being said, a Fringe Grevous boosting Seps feels kind of pigeon-Holed.

Not even really a choice since I doubt anyone would ever switch out this guy for the 22 cost version. (losing 27 points!) As for a fringe Greivous helping out the CIS, I think it fits great flavor wise since the CIS wanted him to be there general so they sabotaged his ship and forced him to become a Cyborg. Before that he worked as an enforcer for the banking clan.

Yes he did :D as mine depicts

We are seeing different things. I see a piece that would be great as a Sep piece but, as a Fringe piece, he purely benefits one faction. And that isn't very Fringe.

^You know, that may be true. Maybe, he should cost 46, that way he can't give any of the Separatist Grievous' his CE. That way at least, it's a bit less one-sided. I think he's a nasty GMA Accurate/Sniper shooter in any faction, with a useful commander effect..
