Ahhh ... pre Rebel Juno. Her TFU version was rather skimpy on what she probably could do. Ace is quite the mouthful .... not sure what to say about it. Dogfighter is an interesting idea (and you should have used Ace for the Name of the SA; Not sure about the Ace Pilot SA and it sounds rather complicated to boot. As to costing, its 20 Without Ace Pilot and the CE; with them its north of 24 and that's only because I'm still not sure what AP does .....

She's not much more powerful than her Rebel version, just has more tricks so 250% of the cost seemed right, but I'm certainly not opposed to a cost increase to keep her out of prideful area.

As for Ace Pilot, its kind of a conglomeration ability I came up with years ago to make huges better. The character "boards" the MW Huge and pilots it. So the Huge retains its abilities and gains the talents and skill of the pilot. But you lose an activation (they activate as one)

Ace Pilot looks quite fun! Blizzard Force AT-ST, or an Uggernaut, lol. :D

Dogfighter is great as is the entire CE. Ace Pilot is an interesting twist on the Mount mechanic.

Upped the cost to 27 as she gets a death shot with the piloted vehicle making her a more potent threat in the right vehicle, and that makes her not functional with Daala. Might be a tad expensive, but prideful death shots would be way to much, so it's a necessary balance.

A bit wordy for Ace Pilot but hard to get around I think. Anything that boosts Huges I like haha. We really need a tie striker huge now

If it is considered adjacent can you still target Juno while she is on a piece? Like Thon? Or is it supposed to be more like barada on skiff?
Lord_Ball

No Juno can't be targetted while piloting, as she no longer gets her own activation that's the tradeoff.

this si the wording for Master Thon's mount: (This character can transport 1 Small or Medium ally who ends their move adjacent to it. Remove that ally from the battle grid; they move simultaneously with this character, have cover, and are considered adjacent to it. They can make attacks, counting distance from this character. A transported ally can return to the battle grid immediately before your first activation of the round. If this character is defeated, the transported ally is also defeated; save 6.) < in this wording the character on the back activates

wording from Skiff's large Transport: Transport up to 6 Small or Medium allies who did not Disembark this round and who end their moves adjacent to him. Remove these allies from the battle grid; they are not considered to be on the battle grid or adjacent to this character. They cannot be targeted, attacked, make attacks or count distance from this character. They lose Disciplined Leader, and their commander effects, special abilities and Force abilities are suppressed. Transported allies may return to the battle grid immediately before your first activation of the round)

than if the character is defeated, the people on it are defeated, save 6. On transport, I do not know if they activate or not (maybe if they activate they can Force renewal)? but anyway, the skiff directly says that the people cannot be targeted, while Thon does not, and you can attack people on Thon's back. sorry to post such long things just want to make sure it is worded correctly if something needs to be added

I made it years ago similar in style to the skiff, with some key diferences (i.e. The transport gains the pilots abilities, though some may not be useable, and the pilot no longer takes a turn.). So a beefed up Uggernaught "costs" 61 points in this case (for what it does I'd say is semi appropriate). I removed the save from the transport ability as an ace should know when to eject without question, but left the 10 hp part.

She is considered adjacent as she essentially takes up the same space so while she cannot be targetted, Grenades/missiles, etc would affect both the vehicle and pilot, so you could essentially kill the pilot that way. I did type in a glossary entry for it, but like mount/skiff there's a lot to cover in a little space so I tried to stick with the most important/commonplace features.

I never even thought to check for a glossary. thanks! and that's awesome

.... not that anyone really cares, but you can Just fit in most of Ace Pilot; the last half of the last sentence plus all of the Commander Effect won't fit on a card .....
Lord_Ball

Is that with combining the first 3 abilities to 1 line? Accurate Shot and Evade probably wouldn't need defining anymore either. But then you'd have to add the definition for dogfighter so it'd be somewhat small text, such as some of the other cards.

Yep, Unique, Pilot & Blk8 Squadron on one line. Eliminating SA explanations walks a fine line. Very few things (Melee, Double, Twin, etc) have no explanations; you start going down That road, its a whole nother discussion. Its a sort of self-regulating idea in that you need That much explanation, its too cumbersome and more than its worth .... which you definitely are approaching, no matter how useful it sounds ... mighta as well have every Jedi have Every FP available.

Well Shaak Ti, JM had stealth definition less, so the older abilities seem more fair game. It'd be rather small, but I can't really see it being worse than Barada Skiff or Mara Jade Skywalker, JM
surf_rider56
10/8/2017 11:56:07 PM

.... and you've named three of the Worst offenders ... even the original Revan from WOTC which was the most packed card, only had Unique, Melee, and Triple with no explanation .... and if you read the commentary on Mara, 80% of the comments complained about the packed/hard to read abilities .... Not something I aspire to in cardmaking. I don't even use my cards. WOTC used Font 12, the V-Sets seem to have gone to Font 11 and its sometimes impossible to read. I just blow the cards up so I can read them ....

yeah I know it's not a perfect solution, but I think something like Ace Pilot would be a fun addition to the game, unfortunately it has the side effect of making a packed card. The main issue with Mara is it was something that could have been easily avoided, not so much in other cases though. Unfortunate, but a necessary unfortunate.

LB .... That's the difference between me and everybody else in the custom's community. You guys shrug and move on. I say if I Need it and it doesn't fit, something Else has to go to make it fit. Cards aren't as easy as they look .... :) Explains why I get pissy about "Will it Fit" but I have No excuse for why I get bent about costs ... oh well, I'm an idiot (but an honest idiot.)

10/9/2017 2:02:01 AM (Updated: 10/9/2017 2:03:31 AM)

Don't get me wrong, I've dabbled in card making and legibility is certainly important, I'm just saying there is a precedent already set for missing definitions and packed cards, so as long as it's not worse than those, it should be ok. As I said unfortunate, but sometimes necessary for a fun New addition to the game.
Lord_Ball

Rearranged the definition of Ace Pilot to eliminate a few words, I can get a card at font size 11 (11.5 if I take out the definition of Accurate Shot with size 14 headers) so it's at least not any worse than the worst which is all I could hope for!
