Wow. What a day of stats I'm having! I put the laptop down to go do life things and spent perty much the whole time thinking about statistics... #skuxlife

First, some alterations. I didn't calculate how many times some of these characters went against each other. Fo' example, Talon Kaarde has a 60-37 record against non-Talon squads. Add in the 5 times they faced each other and its 65-42 - 61%.
Thrawn faced Thrawn 7 times, making it now a 68-43 record - 61%,
Corde v Corde 4 times, 82-33- 70%
Daala v Daala 7 times, 53-17 - 76%
Bastila v Bastila an incredible 13 times, 83-81- 51%
Lobot v Lobot 64 matchups for a 244-169 record, or 60%

Let's add in Ozzel to the mix - he's shown up 71 times. Imperial squads really benefit from his work with 49 wins and only 22 losses - that's a 69% record.

Individual stats are fine, but let's look at some power combos. Talon is a 61% champ and Morrigan is at 70%, but "Talonigan" is 39 wins and 15 losses for a 72% record. If we, however, swap out Talon for Thrawn (with his 61% record), the "Throrigan" is a whopping 30-9... 79% Seventy nine.

Okie dokie, let's hit some requests!
How many Daala squads contained Ozzel? These two don't like each other much. Daala has featured 69 times and Ozzel 68... but, get this, they've only shown up together 6 times for a 3-3 win-loss record.

What about how many Thrawn/Morrigan squads contained Ozzel? The "Thramozzel" is a little more prolific than "Dalozzel". Those three turkeys combine for a 28-9 record, its 76% just a shade under the "Throrigan".

How's Morrigan without her Talon and Thrawn peeps?
Turns out, not a monster. In matchups where she features but not with Talon or Thrawn, she's a moderate 13-9 (59%). So, she's 69-24 (74%) with her buds, 59% without. A bit of a difference, but she's not commonly seen without her mates.

What about our stars?
I thought what these stats would look like in the hands of our top players. In the hands of a top player a good squad can become great, a great squad can become a champion squad. So, what do some of these characters do in the hands of a master (and we have a few of those)... does that change stuff? (At this point, I have no idea as I'm running the numbers as I type... ooo! Excited much?)

We're gonna pick on the most common users of Morrigan Corde which are: three-tie NZ Champ Dr. Daman, our resident homicidal surgeon (27 times), two-time NZ Champ Graham The Hutts, the nicest member of any crime syndicate you'll ever find (only 2 uses of the Corde), Joseph/Gandalf, our newest star, (19 times), Ian (13 runs), Paul Darth Moore and Bob (9 runs of Corde), and Bevan (who has used her 8 times). After that, only 9 other people have actually used her. That's only 15 of our New Zealand players out of all 82 of them. (It must be mentioned that Bob and Bev haven't played for the four seasons - they were a part of the Hawera crew that helped kick off the game in NZ.)

And, let's take 6 sets of numbers: Using Talon, Corde, Thrawn, Daala, Talonigan (Talon/Morrigan), and Throrigan (Thrawn/Morrigan).

Daman who is 101-36 (74%) or 52-10 (82%) with Imperial: 0-0 with Talon (and Talonigan, of course), 29-5 (85%) with Thrawn, 25-2 (93%) with Morrigan, 21-3 (88%) with Daala, Throrigan 24-2 (92%),
Hutts who is 115-50 (70%) or 23-9 (72%) with Imperial: 2-1 with Talon, 8-3 w' Thrawn, 2-0 Morrigan, 12-5 Daala, no Talonigan, 2-0 Throrigan,
Ian who is 51-74 (41%) or 5-6 (45%) with Imperial: 6-5 Talon, 0-0 Thrawn/Throrigan, 6-7 Morrigan, 1-2 Daala, 4-4 Talonigan,
Joseph who is 28-11 (72%) or 2-1 (67%) with Imperial: 17-2 Talon/Talonigan/Morrigan, 0-0 Thrawn/Throrigan, 1-0 Daala,
Paul who is 58-46 (56%) or 16-13 (55%) with Imperial: 5-2 Talon, 10-11 Thrawn, 5-4 Morrigan, 4-1 Daala, 4-2 Talonigan, 0-0 Throrigan,
Bob who is 69-44 (61%) or 10-3 (77%) with Imperial: 3-3 Talon, 1-1 Thrawn, 5-4 Morrigan, 3-2 Talonigan, 0-0 with Daala/Throrigan,
Bevan who is 94-42 (61%) or 11-1 (92%) with Imperial: 3-2 Talon, 5-1 Thrawn, 6-2 Morrigan, 1-0 Daala, 3-2 Talonigan, 0-0 Throrigan.

I'm gonna come back to this... but its bed time for me!

[EDIT! I found some missing stats so I've amended the numbers.]

So, wait... let's look at this.

Here are the full NZ Stats:
Old Republic: 195 (91-104) 47%
Sith: 240 (103-137) 43%
Republic: 441 (229-212) 52%
Separatist: 350 (171-179) 49%
Rebel: 280 (115-165) 41%
Imperial: 297 (184-113) 62%
New Republic: 298 (156-142) 52%
Fringe: 132 (76-56) 58%
Mandalorian: 130 (58-72) 45%
Yuuzhan Vong: 171 (90-81) 53%

Here's the Talon/Talonigan/Thrawn/Daala/Throrigan Stats:
Talon: 65-42 record - 61%
"Talonigan": 39-15 - 72%
Thrawn: 68-43 - 61%,
Daala: 53-17 - 76%
"Throrigan": 30-9... 79%

So...
Fringe without Talon: 11-14, 44%
Fringe without Talon/Morrigan: 37-41, 47%

Imperial without Thrawn: 116-70, 62%
Imperial without Daala: 131-96, 58%
Imperial without Thrawn/Morrigan: 154-104, 60%

Surprise, surprise - Daala and Thrawn have never been used together so...
Imperial without Daala or Thrawn: 63-53, 54%

What about the Good Doctor?
So, Daman is da man - does that mean that Morrigan is OTT or that Dave is OTT...?

Daman: is 101-36 (74%) and 52-10 (82%) with Imperial
Thrawn: 29-5 (85%)
Daala: 21-3 (88%)
Thrawn/Morrigan 24-2 (92%)

Let's see how this affects the non-Daman NZ stats:
NZ with Imperial: 132-103 (56%)
NZ with Thrawn: 39-38 (51%)
NZ with Daala: 32-14 (69%)
NZ with Thrawn/Morrigan: 6-7 (46%)

Say what?!
That's right. Takeaway Dr. Daman and NZ's Imperial sit at 56%, which would still put it above 8 other factions, but not monstrously so. New Zealand really only fires at 51% with Thrawn when Dave's not involved. If we look at how NZ runs Thrawn and Morrigan together, they've only run him 13 times. Wha...? Thirteen times? So, Dave wins 92% of the time over 26 games and the rest of NZ only runs the pair of them 13 times. Car-raaazy.

What about Daala? Daala (at 53-17, 76%) had a monstrous run in her first NZ year - 45-14 (76%) winning NZcon2014 beating another Daala in the final - but, then after a year ban and an international errata, went 3-2 at NZcon2015 with Daman. Then nothing until the last coupl'a months where she's shown up at our local St Bernard's College League and gone 5-1, run by Alex/Kiki twice, Joseph/Gandalf and me once each, and one of our newer stars Caleb (who's had the only loss). So her 8-3 run in the FOUR YEARS since her ban/errata doesn't make scary reading.

Dr. Daman has done exactly what I said earlier - he's taken a great squad and made it a champion squad. After doing all these numbers, the thing I ask is why haven't more kiwis ran Thrawn/Morrigan?!

Last thing... what are the Champion squads again?
Let's look at our Majors:

Brody: 1 (Ham 2017 Republic)

Man - that's a lotta stats.

[EDIT! I found some missing stats so I've amended the numbers.]

The problem I'm having at the moment is, as I'm preparing for NZcon, do I have to run Imperial if I want to win? Do I have to choose Thrawn/Morrigan?

Well, if I am reading your stats correctly, you have a better % shot at winning if you run Imperial, especially with either Thrawn or Daala. If you run Morrigan without Thrawn, than you probably won't win. If you run Thrawn without Ozzel, you probably won't win. Challenge yourself sir; pick another faction! ThumpUp

However, the big however here is, most likely someone will run either Daala or Thrawn with Ozzel and Morrigan, and then you're fighting the uphill, unbalanced battle Scared

Just run Booster Terrik, Smuggler Chief and you'll be guaranteed victory against Thrawn, and a loss against everything else.

Okay. A coupl'a more things.

How does Daman do when he's NOT running Thrawn/Morrigan or Daala?
I've focused on Daman because he has been a big user of Throrigan - including 4 of his 7 titles! - but what how does he do outside of this? Let's see!

Nationals:
2012: 3-2 Republic (Mace LotLS, Yobuck, Lobot, Panaka, R2 Astro, Mas and filler)
2013: 5-2 Won Imperial (Cad Bane/Thrawn/Morrigan/Lobot/Pellaeon/Ozzel)
2014: 7-0 Won Imperial (Daala, Raxus * 12, Imp Officer, Stormie on Sled)
2015: 3-2 Imperial (Daala/Piett/Imp.Off./Sled/Ozzel/Needa/Mas/3xDignatary/12xRaxus)
2016: 6-0 Won Imperial (Thrawn/Morrigan/Bane/Lobot/Ozzel)
2018: 4-0 Separatist (Durge/Lobot/Spotter/2xSniper/San/BDO/10xDrones/Poggle)

LowerHuttaCon:
2011: 2-2 Sith (no squad details)
2012: 3-2 Republic (Windu/GOWK/Atin/Foul Moudama/R2-D2)
2013: 5-0 Won Imperial (Thrawn/Lobot/Ozzel/Pellaeon/Morrigan/Mas/Cad Bane)
2014: 4-1 Won Imperial (Daala/Piett/Pellaeon/Gary/Sled/12 Raxus)
2015: 5-1 Yuuzhan Vong (Quorreal, Subaltern, Tsavong Elite, Zenoc, Yammosk, 6x Lah Warriors, 2x Zonamas)
2017: did not attend
2018: 6-0 Won Imperial (Thrawn/Morrigan/Bane/Lobot/Ozzel)

HaweraCon (150pts):
2010: did not attend
2011: did not attend
2012: 2-3 Republic (Zam/R2/Foul/Evazan/QGFS)
2013: 2-2 Separatist (Grievous on modern Wheel Bike, BX Sniper, BX Spotter, Poggle, Geonosian Drones)
2014: 3-2 Imperial (Daala/Piett/Pellaeon/Gary/Sled/12 Raxus)

HamilCon:
2013: did not attend
2014: 5-0 Imperial (Daala/Snowtroopers)
2015: 4-1 Won Republic (Mon Mothma/Yularen/Padawan Commander/Pancake of Theed/Queen Armadillo/R2D2)
2017: 2-1 (no squad/Faction details)

Nationals Record: 28-6 (82%), 3 Titles
LowerHuttaCon Record: 25-6 (81%), 3 Titles
HaweraCon Record: 7-7 (50%)
HamilCon Record: 11-2 (85%), 1 Title

As Thrawn/Morrigan: 22-2 (92%), 4 Titles
As Daala: 22-5 (81%), 2 Titles
With Everything Else: 27-14 (66%), 1 Title

Bottom line: Dave is still amazing with whatever he runs. The relatively poor(!) record of 27-14 with only 1 title is a record that most of us would kill for. But, give him Imperials and... dang! In fact, he's 44-7 with Imperial at Major tournaments! Say wha...? Hats off to you, Daman.

What about what beats Morrigan in NZ?

Separatist/Daman (Durge/Lobot/Spotter/2xSniper/San/BDO/10xDrones/Poggle) beats Fringe/Joseph (BobaAFH/Talon/Morrigan/Mira/Lobot/2xProwler) 3-1 at NZ Championship 2018
Fringe/Mike (BobaAFH/Talon/Morrigan/Jarael/Ponda/Droopy/Marn/Evazan) beats Fringe/Joseph (BobaAFH/Talon/Morrigan/Mira/Lobot/2xProwler) 3-0 at NZ Championship 2018

2019
Rebel/Paul (Raddus/Biggs/LukeHOE/RedSqAce) beats Fringe/Ian (Talon/Zam/Morrigan/Ponda) 3-0 at Hutt125 2019
Imperial/Graham (Reylo/VaderLothal/SecOff) beats Fringe/Ian (Talon/Zam/Morrigan/Ponda) 3-0 at Hutt125 2019

So - what did we learn?
This is what I got:
Blink Daman loses only twice, but it was very early in his career and against some very good opponents!
Blink 7 times run as non-Imperial/Fringe; 26 as Imperial/Fringe,
Blink Beaten 6 times by Thrawn/Morrigan, Talon/Morrigan, or Daala,
Blink Beaten 6 times by Bastila,
Blink Beaten 3 times by Republic Deathshot (pre-errata),
Blink Beaten 7 times by Daman, 4 times by me and Mike, 3 times by Graham and Paul,
Blink Lost 7 times with Ian, 4 times with Ian and Bob - but all these loses were against quality opposition.

Thoughts?

Just run Booster Terrik, Smuggler Chief and you'll be guaranteed victory against Thrawn, and a loss against everything else.

If only that were true, lol.

Try this - if played right it’s surprisingly strong

--Boosted up--
35 Hondo Ohnaka
32 Talon Karrde, Information Broker
31 Booster Terrik, Smuggler Chief
27 Lobot
15 Ponda Baba, Galactic Criminal
13 Czerka Scientist
12 Duros Scoundrel
12 Human Scoundrel
12 Kanjiklub Gang Member
10 Weequay Pirate

(199pts. 10 activations)
Scoundrels hit for 80 (40twin) with jolt and accurate! Go ahead, someone move outside your turn in my LoS!!! Ponda keeps me safe, Talon Ysalamiri Bubbles and disrupts

Or this:

--Boostin’ Wookiees--
35 Hondo Ohnaka
33 Bastila Shan, Jedi Master
31 Booster Terrik, Smuggler Chief
30 Arfan Ramos
18 Wookiee Commander
44 Wookiee Scoundrel x4
8 R7 Astromech Droid

(199pts. 10 activations)

Super stealthed Wookiees hitting for 90 (30 triple) and Bastila shuts down the enemy CEs

Super stealthed Wookees hitting for 120 (20+Cunning+Bastila = 40 triple). The +4 from the Wookiee Commander and Booster don't stack so they're hitting at +10 atk or +14 with Cunning active. But only Arfan and Bastila are there to keep the Triple going, and Bastila is probably in the back. A lot of pressure to keep Arfan alive.

I haven't played with Booster much, but the way Thrawn is played his CE might not come into use very often except on fodder.

End of round after out-activating: swap the beatstick into attack position but out of line of sight so Booster's CE doesn't trigger. Move into position and attack.

Top of next round: swap the beatstick to safety and leave fodder in its place. Booster lets a Wookiee kill the fodder immediately.

Might work out differently in practice - not sure.

I wonder if the numbers are affected by some people not playing those pieces because they are OP?

I know our play group hates it, and that its very rare we use it when playing. The only time we do, is when we play competitive... and thats because we know its the most competitive way to play the game.

How many other people do that at regional or other tournaments we have? Be honest about it. When you sit down, if your going to say, I am going to run the squad I can run the best, does it not have one of the act control pieces? How many times do you cross your fingers when you run a really fun, borderline tier 1 squad hoping you aren't over ran with act control squads? ( or Vong)

I think Morigan Corde has to change, or be banned, or just ban the ability suppressive fire. I don't care if erasing the ability ruins 2/3 characters or not, I would rather see 3 characters be ruined than another 3 people leave the game, which has been my stance for about 8 years now.

If your adamant about act control being huge, then make beatstick squads viable. The way you counter 1/2 big heavy hitters with massive advantages, is to make the other squad have 4/5 tanky characters who can survive the damage.

I once created a 10 activation Sith squad, based around Malgus/Caedus/Vergere. That squad type ( not those particular characters) have to be able to compete against these high act squads.

Banning Morrigan DOES not take away the Imperial's dominance with Daala or Thrawn/Ozzel. Yes, she has been prominent the last 2 yrs, but without Thrawn and Ozzel, she doesn't win! Darth_Jim won GenCon with Boba Fett, not Morrigan! The common factor is Thrawn and Ozzel!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kezza, here's quoting your own stats;

"How's Morrigan without her Talon and Thrawn peeps?
Turns out, not a monster. In matchups where she features but not with Talon or Thrawn, she's a moderate 13-9 (59%). So, she's 69-24 (74%) with her buds, 59% without. A bit of a difference, but she's not commonly seen without her mates."

I don't see these percentages changing, even if you double the games without her buds ThumpUp

That 2015 GenCon was a little oddball - the Imperial Governor squad was warping the meta. A couple of players went ultra-high activation to beat the gatekeeper.

So Dalozzel and thramozzel are absurdly high percentage rate, but I guess I would like to know how many of the Daala squads had Pellaeon and a 11 or 12 point commander to switch Ozzel if required?
That is the typical way America runs Daala (looking at FrenchySalad's winning squad).

It is 100% clear that as of right now Morrigan/Thrawn/Ozzel/Pellaeon is the most powerful combo in the game.
Followed by Daala/Pellaeon/Ozzel.
It is clear that this has been the case for a long time.
It is clear that the game needs change. ITS BORING to not be able to compete with the same ol style.

Activation control is the root of all this evil. No pun intended Sneaky
