Aaaaaaaah! The suspense is killing me! Looks like TINT and Spry are in. Flying Arrow should be in even if he loses. So then it is a 3 way tie with 8 points between me, mando, and Gandalf. We each have 2 wins and 2 1 point losses. SergiWho is going through?

FlyingArrow over spry 217-111.

Big Mines move early took a good chunk out of all his main attackers except one Twi'lek, but didn't actually kill anything except scrubs. The Mines move ended with a Caedus attack on one of the Twi'leks to get it all the way down to 20hp. The dice on the mines saves were about average. Barriss died immediately but did hit the other Twi'lek with a Riposte to get that one down to 30hp.

Then Fennec snuck in for a Grenades that finished off 2 twi'leks and Wicket. Fennec died immediately.

Then it was Caedus tanking against a full-health Twi'lek, most-health Revan, and half-health Meetra. Along with some help from Ree-Yees, he cut through them all before they could wear him down. He finished with 40hp. Amanoa, the scrubs, and the Force batteries survived. Both batteries were down to 1fp. My dice for Caedus were about average, but I don't think he made more than 1 LS Defense save while Caedus was fighting them off.

Fun matchup! That OR squad has crazy movement.

You are. The second tiebreaker, after number of wins, is head-to-head record. You beat Mando in round 1, and me in round 3.

I did not know that. I thought it all went into some program thing. Good to know.

It does, and the program (hopefully) follows the tiebreaking system that our game uses.

The official tournament rules are on the left margin. "Floor rules":

https://swmgamers.com/SWM/SWM%20Rules%20Main.html

A new PDF hasn't been produced in years. The updates are all listed somewhere in these forums, but the updates are pretty much all about on-the-board game rules. The tournament structure hasn't changed, with the exception of 3/2/1 scoring, which was adopted a few years ago. And the map list, which changes annually. But tiebreakers and all that are found in the floor rules.

If anyone wants to make a new PDF, that would be awesome.

Congrats to the top 4! Let me know if you want to switch squads by Saturday at noon. Then we will proceed with top 4 matches: FlyingArrow vs. Udorian84 and Spryguy1981 vs thereisnotry.

It is like facing off against the Jedi Council looking at those opponents...

As far as squads go. Is there another change after the semi-final round?

I've got a question that came up during my game with Udorian the other day, and since there are (currently) 2 squads with the DF Nexus, I figure I should ask it here for clarification:

Quote:
Presence of the Dark Side (Once per turn, an enemy that activates or ends its move within 6 squares of this character loses 1 Force point and takes 10 damage; save 11)

Here's the question, which I can never seem to keep straight: If a character ends movement not-on-its-turn (ie, after R2's Tow Cable or the Holocron's Dark Allure SA, etc) within 6 of the Nexus, does that character need to make a Presence save, or not?

Because the PotDS wording says "ends ITS move," in my game with Udorian we played that a character only had to roll the save on its own turn (so R2 would have to, but not the character that he towed), but neither of us was completely sure how it was supposed to work.

Yes, you can change now and if you make the finals, change again.

I have always played it that it means on the character's turn. That is how I would rule it.

Yes, that's how I've understood it too. I'm glad we didn't screw it up!

For what it is worth, I play alot of Ommin Squads and I did research when I made the squad and that is not how I understood or played it. In PT and Design of Ommin, the only concern is that it was the characters move (not placement) and that it only happened once per turn. It did not matter on whose turn it was if it was the character moving. However, the TO ruling is what I would go with as it is their ultimate decision. "It was to work like Mines" (but with the only once per turn caveat) was the actual statement made.

That's kinda interesting, since it would significantly increase the effectiveness of things like the Sith Holocron and even Force Push and other things that can create movement outside of a normal activation.

Thanks for that. I will consider and make a final ruling prior to the start of play.

I have already stated my love for presence of the dark aids, but it definitely should not be on movement caused by others. It would be very very powerful and would be super anti force powers. Tulak and the Nexus is going to be tier 1. People will steer that much farther away from playing force users since they almost always rely on outside of turn movement. I would suggest people go back and read the Arca Jeth comics when he goes up against Ommin. I don't think that if Ulic carried Arca that it would have done Anything extra to Arca.

So you're saying that when Ulic carried Arca into the Presence of someone it wouldn't effect them? As if they weren't also in the Presence? Doesn't make sense to me. Also Nexus is already Teir 1

Ruling:

There has been some talk about whether Presence of the Dark Side comes into play when a character moves or is moved outside of its turn. I have considered designer intent, as well as past precedents and what would be "fair" in this case. As TO, it's my responsibility to not only make sure that things are played correctly, but also that they are played consistently. Sometimes that means mistakes are made. In this case, since the piece has already been played with the understanding that out of turn movement does not trigger the save, and because that was my initial instinct, for the remainder of this tournament, that is how we will play it. I will be taking this question to the Rules Committee for a more definitive discussion, but in the interest of keeping things moving, I am making this ruling.

Players will have until 11:00 a.m. Central Time on Saturday, November 5 to complete their semi-final matches. Good luck!

I am saying that once it affects you it affects you. The act of someone else carrying you does not add to it. Maybe it should be "when you enter" and then everytime you activate. Nexus is a tier 1 piece that hasnt had other pieces to make it into a tier 1 squad.

You mean except for the squad that won Gen Con this year?
