_______________________________________________________
I set up on right and he set up on left.
A few things. He won init every round until the last round. I did not use Painful Bond until the 3rd or 4th round and was able to not take any damage from it (proud of that)
The first round I moved pieces out and blew doors knowing I was going to be waiting on him. I had Skyborn in Gambit.
He moved up.
2nd round he moved up and I stayed put trying to find the best way to stay 6 away when he advanced and still have line of sight. both got gambit
3rd round He pulled a good move and moved Saboteur more then 6 to open a door, Resurrector GMA out to shoot at a Sniper (I forgot about Accurate) and he missed one of the shots. This absolutely changed the game because I was able to Verpine Shatter Rifle his Saboteur to death and it closed the door. He did not have other door control and as much as I wanted to blow it open to open up my options I had learned patience and spreading a bit from my last battle against DarkDracul which really paid off to be honest, so I waited.
He positioned and we ended the round both in Gambit.
4th round I moved some pieces and he positioned for his advance.
5th round he moves a protector and Fenn Rau out. next round he moves Sabine and a protector out. I battering charge to kill a Protector (50 damage fail beskar) hit Fenn and Resurrector. (I only missed 3 attacks all game long, the Vassal Dice were insane. I kind of don't like when after the game your rolls where way higher then the percentages say. I also rolled 4 20s this game. 2 of which were going to be kill shots either way, but 2 of which he could have beskared and stayed alive). I move infiltrator to attack Fenn and hit and his Shysa takes it and twins Infiltrator back for 40. Isolationist runs up and hits and is hit back for 40. I kill Shysa.
6th round he starts the activation and kills the Infiltrator and Isolationist. I then double, killing Fenn and a protector with Sniper (hitting for 50). He failed the Beskar save of 15. Then my Battlelord was going to try and Sith Rage kill Sabine needing 3 8s. but I rolled a 3, 13, and 3. I pop my XT and move a Sniper to attack Sabine for 30. She is at 30. Sabine moves up and hits Battlelord for 40.
Resurrector comes out hits Battlelord for 40, I devotion one to the Ordnance worker and take 20.
My last sniper Careful shots Sabine to death and moves up to line of sight of Resurector.
7th round I win Init and Sniper kills Resurrector with 2 double shots of 50 damage.
We called it then. he had the tactician left and I had 2 full Snipers, one 20 HP sniper, GARY, Exar FS, and a 40 HP Battlelord.

Overall it was a fun game of cat and mouse. The miss in the beginning really hurt and then the extra 20s really sucked as well.

NOTE*** Oceanic Facility is really hard to play on. I found it took quite a bit of mental energy to wait for the opponent's advance from the left. It is like 23 or 24 squares of movement to gambit depending on which way you go. From the right you can get there in 9 (adjacent to a door, or 11 down the stair case and in good cover). Whoever chooses that map will have to have a way to advance. Heck Battle Ready doesn't even do it justice. I also think that the Gambit is so well covered you can drop a Droopy on either side and it should never be touched in a lot of games.

Was Udorian84's squad legal? Isolationist doesn't allow Grand Admiral Rulf Yage's Affinity to change.
So does that mean GARY remains Imperial or that he can't join a Sith squad with the Lost Tribe Isolationist?
Regardless, other than the Ranger, the squad doesn't benefit from +4 attack and Stealth.

Udorian's rolls were so high in our game he really didn't need the +4 attack.

GARY should be allowed into the squad since it's Sith base. He would be an imperial piece though and the isolationist's CE wouldn't trigger.

Oh geez. Now I am on the other side of it.

My apologies DarkDracul.
The +4 attack did help me hit fenn with the infiltrator. I remember that explicitly.

Let me know what you went to do about it. I am fine with whatever you decide.

I'll let the T.O. (Tim) decide if it needs to be replayed. I honestly can't say if I deserve another crack at it or not.
You played expertly and your rolls were fire so the error had minor impact on the game.

If it were intentional misplay (cheating), then the win would be automatically changed to a loss. I think it's more than clear that is not the case. I'm so glad we really don't have to even worry about that.

The "official" thing to do when there is an (unintentional) illegal game state reached, is to rewind to that point and replay from there. In this situation it sounds like the whole game would have to be replayed. Circumstances like this in a "regular" tournament, the results entered would often stand (mostly due to time restraints), but this is not a regular tournament.

There is plenty of time left in the round (I know Mando and UrbanShmi are playing their games on Friday).

That said - this is a casual tournament, and I don't want to be ruling with an iron fist (so to speak). My "official" ruling would be to replay the game (let the original map roll stand, we know the illegal state happened after that.) Udorian84 did the right thing by admitting the honest mistake and offering the rematch. But if time doesn't allow you both to be able to play (or if DarkDracul simply decides it's not necessary), then the entered result will stand.

I'll let you both take it from there.

If you replay, win or lose you get to play more minis (and that's a win for everyone in my book!) If you don't replay due to real life time constraints, that's completely understandable.

Thanks to all involved for showing excellent sportsmanship and trying to do what is right.

Yeah, I think the game should be replayed.
Exar shouldn't have been giving the Battlelorde force points or sith rage.
Exar would be defeated round 1.

After the Exar Kun revelation I have no footing to ask or go through with a replay. I should have known that one for sure. Unlike the +4 that helped me with one attack the exar helped him fail beskar saves, I sith raged twice and did very important damage with that. It changed a lot. And the fact that its 2 things instead of 1 is a big deal.
I thank everyone for understanding it was inadvertent, but I can't accept the grace offered when I broke the rules in 2 ways. The win is DarkDracul's

Ultimately I’ll leave that up to you, but I’d recommend a rematch.

OK, I've spoken directly to both parties. DarkDracul was open to a rematch but Udorian84 has conceded the win. I'm recording the result as a 3-0 win for DarkDracul

Thank you everyone for the sportsmanship, understanding and civil discussions about it all.

It's not an ideal result for anyone, we'd all rather see games played out without rules mistakes. It is difficult to see all rules interactions, easy to overlook things, misinterpret rules, etc. I have been in that position myself!

I'd like to take a moment to encourage everyone (including myself!) to go over potential squads you are considering playing, make sure you understand rule interactions, double check for rival and other restrictive abilities/CEs, etc. Know your own squad well enough to be confident at all the interactions. Take a few moments before you start the game to look over your opponent's squad thoroughly so you are both on the same page. Obviously catching something on your opponent's squad is tougher, but taking the time to really look through it might just avoid a rules mishap.

I want to make clear that I am not directing this at anyone in particular (I am guilty myself!)

I just wanted to make a general announcement in hopes that it will help things run smooth from here out. I can see for myself that building or picking a squad at the last second has less than desirable results. I am taking more time myself to plan ahead on what squads I'm going to run and going through each of them multiple times to make sure I don't miss something.

But above all, let's keep having fun. Situations like this could easily have devolved into something nasty, but we have an awesome group of players so it's all been very civil. Thank you again.

Ya, I had like 5 different versions, that was the only one with Exar. The other had Sidious Hologram, but I went with Exar for the 90 damage on the Battlelord (illegal). Still had fun cheating my way to victory (sorry DarkDracuL).

I think if I am not well versed in the squad I might send it to someone to look over for me before the match from here out just to make sure.

I have some ideas for the next round!

game #1 of round 3:
Mando defeats Urbanshmi. Laura won map, so we played on Asteroid Base.
Score: 220-37. 3pts for Mando, 0pts for Urbanshmi

Mando's squad:
--This is the way (SoI round 3, game #1)--
28 Kelborn
27 Demagol
26 The Armorer
72 Crusader Blademaster x3
23 Mandalorian Captain
11 Death Watch Saboteur
6 Mandalorian Demolitionist
4 Mandalorian Guardsman
3 Mouse Droid

(200pts. 11 activations)

Urbanshmi's squad:
--Cobra Khai--
46 Sarasu Taalon
39 Gavar Khai
30 Lost Tribe Isolationist
29 Lady Olaris Rhea
26 Ahri Raas
22 Vestara Khai
8 Keshiri Temple Guard

(200pts. 7 activations)

Demagol proved to be a very annoying piece to deal with. He landed 60 damage on Gavar early on (and torture made him -4 def) and activated him. Counterpush helped him survive an onslaught of angry sith, but eventually he died. I was able to finish of Ahri with Kelborn who got flight from the Armorer. The Crusaders hit some attacks against Olaris, and The Armorer came in and finished her off. I got a huge crit off with a Crusader Blademaster against Gavar who failed his defense save. Laura forgot about the Keshiri's BG and he didn't absorb the crit, so Gavar went down. Now with Stifling Attack gone, my Blademasters became much more annoying to deal with now that they got to use parry and beskargame. What ultimately led to my victory in this matchup was my amount of damage i could dish out and i had kelborn's resolnare. The Blademasters double twin for 30 dmg hits was huge, and a flying Kelborn being able to GMA double twin for 30 dmg hits also was huge. urbanshmi's sith squad is very good against shooters, it just didn't have enough firepower to deal with all my hitpoints and 7 attackers. My save rolls were insanely good this game also, so that swung things in my favor quite a lot.

game #2 of round 3:
Mando defeats Urbanshmi. I won map, so we played on Imperial Garrison
Score: 240-68. 3pts for Mando, 0pts for Urbanshmi

Mando's squad:
--D4rth Siders (SoI round 3, game #2)--
50 Darth Bane, Sith Master
50 Darth Cognus
48 Darth Zannah
27 Darth Bandon
14 Exar Kun, Dark Force Spirit
8 R7 Astromech Droid
3 Ugnaught Demolitionist

(200pts. 7 activations)

Urbanshmi's squad:
--All in the Family--
34 Czulkang Lah, Young Hunter
28 Tsavong Lah, Warrior Elite
27 Jakan, Most High Priest
27 Nen Yim
22 Khalee Lah, Warrior Progeny
19 Eighth Cortex Shaper
15 Yammosk War Coordinator
11 Advance Agent, Officer
7 Shamed Intendant
5 Killik Drone
5 Zonoma Sekot Scout

Preferred Reinforcements:
(ECS-CE) 17 Domain Lah Subaltern

(200pts. 12 activations)

Outactivated and the Vong got to steal Bandon's CE.....I thought this was going to be a very uphill battle. My morale was pretty low to start. Vong hit for a ton of damage, Khalee and Tsvong can automatically get past my defense....not good. However, Cognus is amazing! Intuition + Doctrine of Fear + Surprise Attack was the reason i won this game. Exar gave her renewal and sith rage, so she could twin for 40 dmg hits. Zannah went down really early without landing a hit from a Khalee and Tsvong Lah assault. Khalee went down after Cognus twin attacked her, and Tsvong went down after Bane lightsaber assaulted him. With Czulkang the only major attacker left, it was hard for the Vong to make a comeback against a full HP Bane and Cognus. Czulkang did twin my Bane and even got a nice crit in, doing 100 total damage to the Sith master. But i won init the next round and Cognus suprise attacked Czulkang and then did her regular twin attack against him. Bane retreated and Cognus cleaned up the rest. Doctrine of fear was really powerful! I didn't think this game would have gone in my favor but the map did help as well as my hitpoints and defense being just a little too much for 3 main vong attackers to deal with. good game and Cognus is probably my favorite sith now.
